Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use Monkeys in Space, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom or reduced motion. Here's what we do, what we haven't done yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

What we do

• Everything you need is written on the page. The small “i” buttons only add extra detail.
• Those “i” buttons open with a tap, Enter or Space, and close with Escape.
• Charts work with a keyboard, and every bar or point on them is also given in words.
• Pages are split into parts with headings, so a screen reader can jump between them.
• We check that text is easy to read against its background, in light and dark mode.
• Moving animations only play when your device hasn't asked for reduced motion.
• Our code goes through automated accessibility checks before each release.

What we haven't done yet

• We haven't had an outside accessibility audit, and we haven't tried every screen with every screen reader. So we don't claim that Monkeys in Space meets any accessibility standard in full.
• The sign-in and sign-up screens come from our sign-in provider. We can change how they look, but not how they're built.
• Creators choose the words and pictures on their own bio pages.

No overlays

We don't use an accessibility overlay or widget. When something is hard to use, we fix the page itself.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on Monkeys in Space is hard or impossible to use, email us. You don't need an account. It helps to include:

• The page, like the dashboard, your links or a bio page's address
• What you were trying to do, and what got in the way
• If you'd like, what you use, like a screen reader, zoom or voice control. You don't have to say.
